Motorized Scooter

Question

Earnest asked: I have a 1000 watt electric scooter and live in Florida. I was stopped today and told that my scooter is over the wattage for it to be legal for me to ride without a license. The law I read states any vehicle soly powered by human power( I can stand on my scooter and push it with my foot like a skate board its designed that way) can have a electric motor not to exceed 20 mph the law I read might be out dated is there any restriction on the wattage of an electric two wheeled scooter under Florida law.

Answer

Your vehicle is not legal on the roadway or sidewalk with or without a driver’s license. See this post.
