EBike or Moped?

Ronald asked: I bought an electric scooter that goes up to 25mph–It also has pedals in case battery dies out–I was told by the seller that there is no license required-yes or no?

Answer

If your vehicle meets the statutory definition of a bicycle, no driver’s license or registration is required. Due to the maximum speed under motor power, it is not a bicycle and would likely be a moped, which does require registration and a driver’s license.
