Sidewalk Cycling
Question
Liubov asked: If a busy intersection has no bike lines and no even any space for a bike to ride, can bicyclist ride a bike on side walk if the side walk is pedestrians free?
Answer
Cycling on the sidewalk is legal in Florida unless prohibited by a local ordinance whether pedestrians are present or not. You must yield to pedestrians and give an audible signal before passing a pedestrian. See the posts under Sidewalks and Crosswalks for more information.
May be worth noting that if an intersection has space for cars to travel through it (or turn), it has space for a cyclist to travel through it (or turn).
