Making a Right Turn Across a Bike Lane

Question

Myriam asked: If I am driving down sunset street and there is a bicycle path to my right and I need to make a right turn on 137th avenue, do I turn right from my lane, or do I move to the bicycle path to make my right turn. I always turn from my lane, but I see car driving on the bicycle path so it is very dangerous. Who would be at fault in case of an accident. To me a bicycle path is for bicycles ONLY.

Answer

I believe you are referring to a bicycle lane, which is different from a bicycle path. A bike path is separated from the roadway. A bike lane with pavement markings is part of the roadway.

Please see this post for the answer to your question. It addresses vehicles stopped at an intersection, but applies to your question as well.
