Bicycles on the Sidewalk

Ronald asked: Does it mean that I am legally allowed to use an eBike on a bike path or a sidewalk if I am just manually pedaling it?

Answer

The statutes prohibit the driving of a vehicle by other than human power on the sidewalk or bike path.

s. 316.1995 – Driving upon Sidewalk or Bicycle Path

(1) No person shall drive any vehicle other than by human power upon a bicycle path, sidewalk ….

(3) This section does not apply to motorized wheelchairs.

It is the method of propulsion that is considered in this statute. If you are driving your eBike wholly by human power, the motor is nothing more than another object being transported on your bike.  See also:
