Appealing a Traffic Citation

Question

Ob asked:  What is a hearing officer and how do I appeal a decision on a bicycle citation.

Answer

A hearing officer is a usually a magistrate assigned to traffic court.

In order to appeal successfully, you should have an attorney and have a transcript of the proceedings made.  You must do that since the court does not record or transcribe a traffic case.

Since you did not prepare ahead of time for full documentation of the case and if you did not have an attorney, it is unlikely that you will prevail on appeal.
