As a general rule, I would say a good 80% of all drivers of ANY type of vehicle have no clue how to handle driving correctly on the roads.
Many times a day i see bicyclists crossing on red, not using hand signals, riding against traffic, etc, etc.
Many times a day I see motorists riding to close to the road edge, not using turn signals, not giving the right of way, cutting off other drivers.
Buses are the worst, because they think that the road edge (and included bicycle lane) is only for their use, stay parked on the side while not picking up or dropping off passengers, bully cyclists, etc, etc.

EVERYONE needs to learn how to travel on the roads properly (and just like the last poster) NEED to RESPECT other's right to use the roads no matter what kind of vehicle they ride.

This is ridiculous. Cars weigh hundreds, thousands of pounds and go 45-60 mph on the very same roads that bicycles which are much lighter and slower - do. Bicycles do not belong on roads with cars. Sorry guys. Maybe it was appropriate 80 years ago, but not in today's world. And I'm tired or your argument that 'cars should watch out for bicyclists'. REALLY??! - It's all about you, is it? Perhaps you should try driving responsibly and practice defensive driving the same as motorists must do.

Yessiree:

Still waiting for those noisy street sweepers to hit the bike lanes in Jax too. One of these days maybe I should do my part to save the planet and turn in for recycling, the jar of nails, screws, and other objects I've picked up whilst riding the bike lanes around here. Maybe the couple of bucks will buy me a new tube for all the others punctured over the years.

ya'll come back now ya hear.

I love it how these politicians preach "multiple modes of transportation", but when it comes down to it all they want to do is make it easier for motorists, and harder and less safe for those that want to utilize an alternative mode of transportation. Good job Tallahassee...........The auto industry and foreign oil companies thank you.

With this new law in place, I trust that our citys' road crews will be duly accomodated with finer sweep roller brushes to pick up the never ending shards of glass, metal shavings, wires, sticks, bottle caps & other trash that end up in these roadside bike lanes that are supposed to protect us. Well now, somebody's got a new feather in their cap. Once the hoopla is over, let's see how well these bike lanes are swept & serviced. I won't name it, but there's a longer bike path in our state. For more than a decade, we rode over painted lines of pink, red, yellow, white & green paint (a new colour change when the former had faded) until finally the almighty buck was made available for road repairs of cuts & breaks. It's all nicely paved anew, but............10+ years waiting.
